The 112th

Many positive things are being brought forth by the 112th Congress. There is real hope for our country.

Last week, Senators Jim DeMint and Mike Enzi introduced the Better Use of Light Bulb Act (BULB). The purpose of BULB is to repeal the provisions of the Energy Independence Act of 2007 relating to a ban of incandescent light bulbs. Michele Bachmann tried to correct this assault on the Constitution and the American economy when she proposed the Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act in 2008. Of course, she had no chance of success with the 111th Congress.

For those who have not followed this brainchild of the EPA and don’t understand what all the fuss is about, please consider:

The light bulb is a Thomas Edison invention. However, the last incandescent bulb manufacturer in the United States closed September 2010. We get our compact fluorescent light bulbs from China. Thanks EPA. If our government can dictate the type of light bulb we use in our houses, they can demand that we buy health insurance. They could nationalize a car company and then support a false negative story about a competing car manufacturer (sticking accelerators). Under the guise of saving the 3-imch smelt fish, the EPA could shut off water to the California big valley and turn 800,000 acres of productive farm land into a dust bowl. This could just all be paranoia except it has already happened.

The packaging on CFL’s claim they will last 10,000 hours of continuous use. That sounds impressive but simple math reveals that to be less than 14 months. These bulbs burn out much quicker when turned off and on. Many consumers report their CFL’s lasting less than 9 months. CFL’s contain mercury, a neurotoxin that can cause kidney and brain damage. Eventually, all bulbs burn out or break. When this happens, you have an expensive hazardous waste disposal problem to resolve.

As Eco-terrorists are the most strident supporters of the current EPA, I find it bitter irony that China has reopened mercury mines as the global mercury prices increase. These mines are poison to animals, rivers and people. Where is the compassion for Mother Earth?

Lest we forget, it was George W. Bush who signed into law the Energy Independence Act of 2007. Senator Fred Upton (R) was recently appointed Chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Committee. This is the same Fred Upton who was a champion of the CFL in 2007. We Tea Party types made it clear we did NOT want Upton in this key position. Speaker of the House Boehner ignored our wishes.

There are problems with the Republican leadership. We saw that when they tried to renege on their promise to cut $100 billion of spending in 2011. The true conservatives in the House stood their ground and kept faith with the voters. These good people will tell you that they could not possibly have succeeded without our support. They need us behind them and they need us to be vocal and visible if they are to overcome both the liberal Democrats and their own go-along-to-get-along leadership. Our country can no longer afford a silent majority.

Pattern of Destruction

The Progressives/Liberals have had a playbook that hasn’t changed much over the past three decades or so. We are all aware of their feints, illusions and distortions by now. We have seen them enough times that we can predict them with greater accuracy than could Nostradamus. Their playbook doesn't change. They spew hatred while calling for civility. They accuse conservatives of racism and homophobia. They claim we don’t care about children and their education. Of course, it matters not a whit to us if the elderly are faced with starvation. People have heard these false charges so often they have begun to boomerang on those who voice them. Good! It is about time.

Only the truly ignorant and or government dependent would continue to put liberal Democrats into office decade after decade while their communities disintegrate around them. There is a YouTube video showing pictures of Detroit, Michigan and Hiroshima, Japan a few days after the atomic boom was released over Hiroshima. These were followed by a set of pictures of what these two cities look like today. Hiroshima is a thriving, productive metropolis while Detroit is the semi-abandon slum. Many blocks of houses in Detroit have been reduced to zero value (or less) and have been bulldozed to prevent their use as “safe” havens for crime. The last Republican mayor of Detroit left office in January of 1962.

In 2008, Snoops published a list of our top 10 poorest cites with the highest poverty rate. They all have one thing in common…long-term Democrat leadership. In order of highest poverty rate, here they are:

Rank City Last Year a Republican was Elected Mayor
1. Detroit 1961
2. Buffalo 1954
3. Cincinnati 1984
4. Cleveland 1989
5. Miami Never elected a Republican mayor
6. St Louis 1949
7. El Paso 1949
8. Milwaukee Never elected a Republican mayor
9. Philadelphia 1952
10. Newark, NJ 1907

We know that the definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. There is nothing to be done for those who stand in line for “free money.” Those who have no idea where this money comes from and call it “Obama Stash” are hopeless. Those who are among the 2 million civilian Federal Government employees, the roughly 5.4 million state employees (earning around $20 billion a month) everyone on or about to go on Medicaid or Social Security , union members and all others who blindly vote for anyone with a D, you had better wake up and recognize that you are killing your host. We are running out of resources for you to redistribute.

The answer for turning all this around isn’t to just stop voting Democrat, although that would be a good start. The answer is to elect only those who will support and defend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

The 111th Congress had precious few who lived up to their oath of office. They did severe damage to the economic well being of the United States. Any country that is living on money borrowed from other countries, enemy or ally, is in danger of losing its sovereignty. This is a deadly serious matter. Look at Greece. Look at Egypt and Ireland.

We must stop voting for a party just because we and our parents and grandparents have always done so. Do not accept the carefully crafted and media supported illusion that Democrats care about the disadvantaged while Republicans care only about the wealthy. The truth is that most politicians care only about getting elected and staying in office. Personal power is their god, regardless of their party affiliation.

The 112th Congress, thanks to an awakening of millions of people, is vastly different than the 111th. It isn’t just Bachmann, McClintock, Chaffetz, Mack, Pence, Ryan and perhaps a dozen others who are fighting for the people. They have been joined by numerous men and women who will not compromise the Constitution and Bill of Rights for personal gain. Unfortunately, the leadership in the House is questionable and the Senate is still controlled by the left.

There is much to be done if we are to save our Republic and prevent Detroit from becoming the norm. The 112th Congress can and will put the downward spiral on hold. The elections of 2012 will determine if the U. S. will once again be the beacon of hope for the world or just another pauper nation in decline.
