Political Hubris

Here are the numbers as best as I can determine on Sunday morning, March 21, 2010.
Opposed to the Health Care Bill: Democrats 23% Republicans 88% Independents 53%
Those in favor try to skewer the figures when appearing on talk shows by saying 72% of Americans approve of health care reform. Well of course we do. That is not the same as supporting this horrific bill. The President holds press conferences surrounded by people wearing lab coats and claims that doctors favor his bill. The reality is that according to a poll by Investor’s Business Daily, 45% of doctors in this country would seriously consider leaving their practice or retiring early if the bill was passed.

All rhetoric aside, let us just use common sense and logic. The post office is bleeding money and wants to stop Saturday delivery. The war on drugs has not worked. The war on poverty has led to generational dependence on welfare. Social Security is going broke. Medicare is going broke even before the $523 billion this bill will take away from it. Yet, we are asked to believe that this 2,700 page bill will be different. With the IRS as the enforcement arm, how can this not be a disaster?

From March 5, 2009 thru March 11, 2010, President Obama delivered at least 52 public speeches or statements on the health care plan. Yet, the last time a Rasmussen Poll showed support for the health care bill was June 26-28, 2009. Clearly, the more the President spoke and the more the voters learned about the bill, the less likely they became to support it. According to a recent NBC News/WSJ survey, 90% of people who were undecided about the health care bill in April 2009 opposed the bill by March of 2010.

So, why did the politicians make it law? The progressive/liberal politicians simply do not care what we, the productive citizens of the United States, think about this issue. They have a Socialist agenda and they are going to fundamentally transform America while they have the numbers to do it.

Rep. Alcee Hastings (D. Florida) on the House Rules Committee said it best. “Rules, we make them up as we go along.” However, for in-our-face candor, how about this recent statement from Rep. Tom Perriello (D. VA)? “…if you don’t tie our hands, we will keep stealing.”

Even back in 2007 when unemployment was at near record lows, 1 in 5 Americans held government jobs. That percentage increased dramatically in 2009 and Government is by far the nation’s largest employer. The Obama administration is diligent at suppressing private sector jobs while edging up government jobs. Government jobs and government assistance equates to government dependency. The people who think this health care bill is a good idea need take heed to what Margret Thatcher once said. “The problem with Socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”

Progressives, both Democrats and RINOS, laugh and smirk now. A November Massacre is coming!
